Recruitment Fraud Alert

STEMCELL Technologies has become aware of a scam wherein somebody is offering remote job opportunities, posing as STEMCELL Hiring Management during interviews, then providing fraudulent employee agreements and checks. We have reported this criminal activity to the appropriate authorities and our online security team is working hard to ensure that it is dealt with. Please be advised that all legitimate employment opportunities at STEMCELL, including any jobs advertised on third party sites such as Glassdoor, Indeed, LinkedIn, or other local job boards will also be posted at jobs.stemcell.com, and any employment applications must be submitted directly to STEMCELL Technologies through that site. Job Description Summary

STEMCELL is committed to supporting the communities in which it operates and investing in environmentally sustainable business practices. The Program Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability develops, implements and maintains the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability strategies and tactics globally, in alignment with company and employee values. This currently includes the corporate sponsorships and donations program, the environmental management system and sustainability initiatives. This role manages these initiatives internally and externally and will develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders, influencers and organizations, including those in the local and global scientific community.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements and maintains the Corporate Social Responsibility & Environmental Sustainability strategies and tactics globally. 

  • Plans and coordinates the delivery of community sponsorships, as well as environmental programs and initiatives.

  • Tracks and evaluates program results through metrics and status reports. Engages with various internal stakeholders to support this work. 

  • Supports sourcing government funding opportunities to achieve sustainability goals.

  • Leads and mentors cross departmental teams to support CSR initiatives.

  • Environmental Sustainability:  

    • Partners with Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility Director to set targets and oversee a sustainability metrics program.

    • Manages data collection to align and meet environmental compliance standards. Submits required reports to external agencies as required.  

    • Partners and collaborates with internal stakeholders and leaders (eg. Human Resources, Supply Chain, Marketing) to generate company-wide sustainability goals and ideas, share information, receive feedback, and evaluate progress.

    • Develop initiatives to involve employees in company environmental sustainability efforts.

    • Manages the implementation and sustainment of an Environmental Management System and associated certifications (e.g. ISO 14001 and other certifications).

    • Leads the identification, evaluation and implementation of new opportunities to reduce STEMCELL’s environmental impact through cross departmental facilitation. 

  • Community Relations:  

    • Proactively build strategic relationships and engage with key stakeholders, influencers and organizations, including those in the local and global scientific community.   Act as a spokesperson for corporate responsibility for the company, and leverages Corporate Responsibility programs to build eminence and a leadership position.

    • Develop and maintain external sponsorship request policies and processes globally.

    • Leads the review of corporate sponsorship and donation requests, and determines support, attendance, logistics and feedback.

    • Manage and document all company sponsored events, including arranging attendees, logistics, invoices and payments.

    • Coordinate the budget for all sponsorships and donations globally.

    • Drive STEMCELL’s efforts to increase employee engagement through volunteer and community outreach programs (e.g. career in science talks for youth, employee giving campaigns, etc.).  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in cell or molecular biology or related field. 

  • Previous experience with ISO 14001 certification, gap analysis, documentation preparation and/ or audit..

  • 6+ years experience managing environmental programs in a manner that enhances brand and reputation within the community while meeting business objectives.

  • 1-3  years of experience leading and managing a team with the ability to effectively delegate, mentor and develop staff and inspire others to reach their full capability, maximize their capacity and accomplish goals.

  • Passionate and committed to corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

  • Connected to the local scientific community in Vancouver, B.C. Established relationships with scientific leaders, associations and organizations. 

  • Knowledge of environmental standards within the life sciences industry and relevant certification programs. 

  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; communicates in a clear, concise and organized manner; listens to others to obtain information. Adept at understanding and distilling complex, fast moving and unexpected subjects into impactful communications within tight timelines. 

  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and ability to work in an autonomous environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent organization, prioritization, time management and project management  with strong administrative and planning skills.

  • Demonstrated experience building strong relationships with the ability to strategically partner cross-functionally and globally to advance strategic direction of the business. 

  • Ability to exercise discretion, judgment and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external customers and executive management.

  • Strong business acumen with an ability to think creatively, strategically and collaborate cross functionally in a global environment to execute tactically.

  • Extensive knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Suite.
