Recruitment Fraud Alert

STEMCELL Technologies has become aware of a scam wherein somebody is offering remote job opportunities, posing as STEMCELL Hiring Management during interviews, then providing fraudulent employee agreements and checks. We have reported this criminal activity to the appropriate authorities and our online security team is working hard to ensure that it is dealt with. Job Description Summary

At STEMCELL Technologies, we build next-generation high-throughput cell sorters for clinical and research use. We're seeking a Software Engineer to help develop, maintain, and extend our software, which controls our instruments and supports GMP-compliant workflows.

You'll be joining at a pivotal stage for the company, contributing to the ongoing development of the GMP instrument software, playing a role in the design and implementation of our next-generation sorter, and developing custom tools to support our in-house manufacturing and test automation processes.

This is a great opportunity for an early-career engineer or post-PhD researcher looking to work in a fast-moving commercial environment.

Job Description

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and maintain application features in our control software and in-house manufacturing rigs

  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists to refine requirements and propose solutions

  • Contribute to GMP compliance features

  • Write clear, testable, well-documented code following internal standards

  • Participate in design reviews and software verification

  • Work closely with our multidisciplinary team

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a physical science

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent in a research (e.g. PhD) setting

  • Proficient in at least one language such as Python, Java, C#, or C++

  • Experience with Git and collaborative programming

  • Experience developing desktop applications

  • Experience with or desire to work on systems that interface with hardware

  • Solid grasp of object-oriented design and modern software practices

  • Understanding of testing, documentation, and software verification

  • Clear communicator with a collaborative approach

Desirable:

  • Strong Python skills, especially with NumPy and PySide (or PyQt)

  • Experience with instrumentation or scientific software

  • Ability to understand the wider system context in order to steer implementation

  • Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 13485, or similar regulatory frameworks

  • Motivation to work in advanced medical or life science technologies

  • Comfortable contributing to regulatory documentation and processes

The annual salary for this job ranges from:

£33,000.00 - £49,600.00

STEMCELL determines an individual’s pay within the range based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team or organization. For jobs that are eligible for sales incentives, the range noted above is inclusive of target incentives; actual incentives are based on individual performance results in accordance with company policy. In addition to base salary, STEMCELL offers a comprehensive total rewards package that may include health benefits, retirement savings, and more (depending on region).
