Senior Manufacturing Technician, Instrumentation
Job Description Summary
Based within our manufacturing environment at our UK site in Melbourne. The Senior Manufacturing Technician, Instrumentation will be a key member of the operations team, and responsible for the full build of our Highway1 instrument, its setup and qualification.Instrument build and qualification is an extremely important function, and will cover many disciplines, such as basic mechanical assembly, instrument optics, laser components and basic PCB integration.
Senior Manufacturing Technician, Instrumentation will have involvement in both electrical and electronic systems. Although it is not regularly expected, the Senior Manufacturing Technician, Instrumentation should be fully competent to work and fault find on electrical gear as well as digital and analogue control circuitry.
This role will also support all other production related manufacture as well as many R&D activities relating to assembly build of next generation products.
As the production expert in the assembly of our equipment, there may be opportunities for travel, to support our product at customer sites.
Job Description
Objectives and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all electromechanical activities at the UK site, including ensuring all timelines are met and escalating any issues to production management.
- Responsible for the final test, setup, and qualification of our manufactured instrument, whilst adhering to our internal procedures and protocols. This is particularly important as many activities will take place within our class 7 cleanroom.
- The Senior Manufacturing Technician, Instrumentation will be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and organised environment.
- Champion for the manufacturing environment and continued improvement.
- This role will support the development of new manufacturing requirements, and procedures relating to new product introduction.
Essential Job Criteria
- HNC/HND in engineering or manufacturing field or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Multi-disciplinary background with an electrical/electronic bias.
- Confident at reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Experience in instrument optics and lasers.
- Methodical and precise work approach.
- Efficient management of a varied workload.
- Proactive with the ability to take ownership of tasks.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.

The annual base salary for this job ranges from:
£24,700.00 - £37,100.00STEMCELL determines an individual’s pay within the range based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team or organization. For jobs that are eligible for sales incentives, the range noted above is inclusive of target incentives; actual incentives are based on individual performance results in accordance with company policy. In addition to base salary, STEMCELL offers a comprehensive total rewards package that may include health benefits, retirement savings, and more (depending on region).
