Job Description Summary
We have a new opening for a Research Technologist, Stem Cell Biology in our Cambridge facility. This position will be responsible for testing and analysis of media, surface materials and substrates that support stem cell culture. This work will include the development of new products, testing and improvement of existing products and evaluation of competing products. As an in-house expert in developing reagents for stem cell biology, the Research Technologist will be responsible for product documentation, data analysis and reporting, troubleshooting experiments, literature reviews and some experimental design including controls and alternative read-outs. They will be responsible for maintaining written records of laboratory procedures, experimental results and all lab work according to company standards. The work schedule for the Research Technologist role will require availability to occasionally work weekends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs experiments designed with supervisor input, including establishing novel technologies in house for maintenance of stem cells cultures
Performs data analysis and calculations independently
Troubleshoots experiments, identifies abnormal or unexpected trends in data
Presents data at R&D data meetings, provides conclusions and future plans
Validates new products and components
Performs literature reviews, discusses relevance to product design with supervisor and research team
Tracks competitor activity, discusses relevance with supervisor and research team
Sources new product components and technologies
Assists in the preparation of technical documentation for product line related to matrices for cell culture
Provides training on laboratory/product protocols to lab and sales staff
Provides technical support (product use, protocols) for QC and Manufacturing as needed Supports Quality initiatives
Occasional weekend work (Saturday and/or Sunday) may be required
BSc in Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnologies, Chemistry or related field
Skilled in cell culture; specific experience with Embryonic Pluripotent Stem Cells, Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells, Human/Mouse gastrointestinal stem cells and 3D culture systems is an asset
Skilled in wide range of laboratory techniques and analytical instrumentation
Experienced in cellular and molecular biology techniques including flow cytometry, quantitative PCR, immunocytochemistry, microscopy is an asset
Experienced in performing independent laboratory research
Excellent in working in a team
Excellent written and communication skills
Good verbal communication both in one on one and in a group setting
Motivation and enthusiasm in scientific research and in learning novel laboratory techniques
