Senior Manager, Corporate Projects

Job Description Summary

Within the Corporate Project Management Office (PMO), the Senior Project Manager, Corporate Projects will be responsible for developing and maintaining an exceptional team of Project Managers & Coordinators, leading corporate project management training, and providing leadership direction and support in driving the functional project management maturity within the department and across the organization. This involves working with and championing the broader STEMCELL Project Management Community of Practice, sharing best practices and mentoring project management staff. You will also be responsible for project management of critical projects as required, including tracking and reporting the conformance to project scope, budget and schedule across the project and reporting these to the senior leadership team, in addition to successful delivery and facilitation of change management initiatives across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Management and implementation of key corporate projects (as required).

  • Engage cross-functional partners to champion a project management-oriented culture and mindset.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by working with the broader STEMCELL Project Management Community of Practice to facilitate collaboration and the sharing of best practices amongst the Project Managers and key PMO stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the Community of Practice as a core team member, including, but not limited to: building and maintaining framework, execution of change management & corporate communication strategies, generation and maintenance of project management career development plan, and defining KPIs.

  • Recruit and manage a team of Project Managers & Coordinators within the PMO.  Conduct and document performance reviews and make compensation recommendations for direct reports in accordance with company policies and practices.

  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to staff within the Corporate PMO and across the organization.

  • Design project management training plan in accordance with Learning & Development and Community of Practice initiatives; Execute on plan and lead training of same.

  • Oversee and govern Corporate PMO and Community of Practice resource management platforms (e.g. Confluence)


Qualifications

  • Experience working within biotech/pharma/life sciences industry mandatory.

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree (preferably in a life sciences-related field) and PMP certification or a combination of education and experience. Advanced degree and change management certification are assets.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience leading and managing varying scales of multi-disciplinary projects (preferably within the life sciences).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience of demonstrated leadership responsibilities in leading diverse teams.  

  • Demonstrated program management skills and experience, plus significant knowledge of project planning tools with evidence of practical application. Experience in applying a variety of project management methodologies.

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) in developing and communicating the PMO vision to diverse audience and to the PMO staff.

  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic plan.
