Job Description SummaryReporting to the Director, Communications & Corporate Social Responsibility in the Corporate Affairs Department, the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications has full responsibility and oversight of STEMCELL’s Internal Communications strategies and initiatives that support STEMCELL’s vision, corporate brand, and culture. The Senior Manager plays a critical leadership role in stakeholder relationship management working closely with senior leaders across all departments and all global offices to facilitate company-wide internal communications, corporate alignment and overall organizational engagement. The incumbent is a strategic, collaborative and a visionary leader that executes and maintains the corporate direction, in alignment with STEMCELL’s vision, mission and values. As STEMCELL continues to undergo significant growth and change, this role proactively identifies and evaluates short and long-term opportunities within the assigned portfolio, including related programs, processes, and policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Designs and executes the global internal communications strategy, including story-telling, to drive the visibility, awareness and engagement of STEMCELL’s brand and culture.
Ensures all company-wide communications to employees are relevant, succinct, and aligned with both the company’s strategy and culture, in collaboration with the Executive Team.
Manages all internal communications on STEMCELL’s intranet and serves as an editor and producer of the topics and content (updates, articles, videos).
Ensures the CEO and company’s brand of quality are upheld through sensitive communications.
Works with Senior Leadership across the company globally to provide leadership, advice and counsel on the company’s communications channels, and develops a framework for consistent communications across all communication platforms, including departmental meetings.
Collaborates with project managers across the company on designing and executing internal project communications.
Works with Executives to draft succinct and tactful communications, oftentimes to address company changes or in response to crises.
Develops the key metrics to report on internal communication successes and as a means to foster continuous improvements.
Contributes to the design and implementation of the company’s content management policies, processes and technology solutions to enable access to information, collaboration and engagement.
Supports communications for corporate service groups as well as sustainability and community relations programs
Develops new global programs to enhance employee engagement.
Develops a continuous improvement process within the relevant Corporate Affairs portfolios to ensure efficient workflows, processes and systems; implements and documents best practices.
Manages, maintains and updates relevant and current external corporate slide presentations for use by employees with external guests.
Team Leadership & Management:
Leads, manages and supports the assigned teams to maximize productivity and performance, including availability of expertise within the teams for all planned activities, tasks and projects.
Builds a positive workplace culture, ensuring the teams (individually and collectively) are set-up for success for the delivery of all planned goals, milestones and activities.
Builds a talented workforce through effective hiring best practices to identify top talent. Recommends and resolves any staffing needs to ensure the assigned teams and department as a whole are scalable for growth (right people in the right role at the right time).
Oversees the assigned teams’ training and developmental needs and ensures their needs are met within the departmental plan and budget.
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to communicate to a range of audiences.
Extensive editorial experience with impeccable judgement and attention to detail.
Experience working with all levels within a global organization, from individual contributors to executives. Communication areas cover a broad perspective of corporate strategy, corporate operations and general business.
Degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field and 7+ years of related experience. Degree and/or certifications in cell or molecular biology or related fields would be an asset.
5+ years of experience in hiring, managing and developing a high performing team.
A flexible, strategic thinker with an excellent track record of execution in a fast-paced, growing company environment, preferably with a global organization.
Proficient program / project management skills, including scope, schedule and resource planning. Ability to anticipate, plan and execute corporate programs / projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, including ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, sound judgment, and utmost discretion with multiple stakeholders.
Highly flexible, good tolerance for ambiguity and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
Extensive knowledge of Excel, Word, Wordpress, PowerPoint, and Google Suite is an asset.
