Scientist, Particle Chemistry
Job Description Summary
STEMCELL is looking for a Scientist to join the Particle Chemistry team. STEMCELL Scientists act as scientific leaders, contributing to collaborative research to create a range of products used around the world. The Scientist, Particle Chemistry will be working at the interface of multiple disciplines including chemistry, surface science, materials science and biology to develop the next generation of nanomaterials for isolating cells. The Particle Chemistry team uses chemistry and materials science techniques to study and isolate key colloid synthesis parameters by in depth characterization analysis. Scientists at STEMCELL use cutting edge synthesis and nanocharacterization tools and techniques to improve understanding of complex coatings, as well as to design new chemical systems that drive specific behaviors of the materials when used in biological settings.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Fully responsible for the assigned product line(s) of magnetic particles for positive selection: set performance criteria, quality of experimental design, project planning, product optimization, and launch.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex scientific and technical investigations.
Contribute to business plan for new products and business section of new product proposals.
Responsible for supporting corporate goals through innovative product development and by identifying emerging markets
Serve as a scientific ambassador of the company to promote the STEMCELL brand and mission
PhD with 1 year of post-doctoral training in chemistry, chemical engineeringis preferred.
Broad technical expertise and knowledge of diverse laboratory techniques. Proven experience training personnel on laboratory techniques and protocols.
Experience with the following techniques is an asset: Particle synthesis including inorganic oxide nanomaterials, sizing characterization (DLS, Nanosight, FFF, SEC, Electron/Optical microscopy), surface functionalization characterization (TGA, zeta, chemical assays) and synthesis of coating component materials (Nano/Micro particles, surface functionalization/conjugation, polymers)
An independent researcher with product, methodology, and/or technology development experience.
Detail-oriented and proficient at time management.
Team orientated –‘one-team’ behavior is a must.
