Job Description Summary
The Scientific Recruiter works in partnership with STEMCELL hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition Team to source, attract and hire PhD, scientific and technical talent. This role provides an opportunity to contribute and produce results by strengthening our employer brand and developing scientific candidate pipelines to continue fueling our growth. As of today, STEMCELL employs more than 1,200 people globally, with over one-third of those holding a PhD or MSc and the majority holding BSc or Engineering degrees. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition, the Scientific Recruiter is a relationship builder who enjoys the challenge of finding the best scientific talent, while working in a team based and fast paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
In collaboration with the Team Lead Scientific Recruitment and Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition, develop and implement global sourcing strategies to recruit top scientists to STEMCELL. Ensuring strategies are in place to build a strong scientific thought leadership talent pipeline across STEMCELL.
Implement robust scientific recruitment strategies to support STEMCELL’s growth objectives
Deliver superior client service. Successfully execute STEMCELL’s recruitment process by understanding current and future business needs and providing proactive, day-to-day recruitment services and support.
Establish effective client relationships at all levels based on trust and provide recruiting related consultation, advice and counsel.
Provide full-cycle recruitment for scientific roles including sourcing, screening, behavioural based interview support, reference and background checks and offer of employment.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the business, key stakeholders including executives, and the extended HR team (HR Business Partners and HR Operations) to facilitate information sharing during the recruitment process.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with candidates during all phases of the recruitment process to enhance the candidate experience.
Contribute to the development of recruiting related training tools. Deliver training to new and existing hiring managers and other interviewers with the goal of increasing hiring manager capability.
Oversee the effective coordination and communication of interview schedules with internal stakeholders and candidates and providing frequent updates as required, resulting in an outstanding candidate and hiring manager experience.
Manage the recruitment process and related activities using the HRIS system (e.g. Workday) and TalentBrew tools, including recommending improvements to achieve process excellence and maintaining data integrity and accuracy in the Workday system.
Report on and respond to recruiting related KPIs and metrics to inform the business and to drive recruitment strategies and tactics.
PhD is strongly preferred with direct lab-based experience in relevant field, such as cell biology, immunology, biotechnology, biochemistry. A minimum of a BSc is required.
1-3 years of recruitment experience in a technical environment where strong attention to detail and quality are highly valued.
Excellent relationship building and influencing skills.
Ability to facilitate, influence and negotiate in order to reach consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes. Excellent judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
Comfortable networking, building new relationships and representing STEMCELL in the external scientific and technical communities.
Highly flexible, good tolerance for ambiguity and time-driven deadlines and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize time and workload to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) coupled with strong interpersonal skills both in one-on-one and in group settings.
- Passionate about meeting or exceeding goals and expectations.
