Job Description SummaryThe Project Manager is responsible for ensuring successful delivery of multi-disciplinary projects that align to STEMCELL’s corporate growth initiatives. This role directs project strategy and communications with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, in addition to applying the company's project management framework, methodology and industry best practice.
The Project Manager has an in-depth understanding of relevant processes related to corporate and/or departmental priorities and assigned project(s). Working closely with the project team, this role proactively evaluates the project scope, budget and strategic importance to effectively plan and administer the required project management activities. You have a forward-thinking mindset to anticipate and plan ahead for solutions and contingencies that are aligned and effectively communicated across diverse groups. The Project Manager is integral in facilitating and driving communications and reporting, including stakeholder engagement.
Duties & Responsibilities
Organize, direct and manage all phases of the project lifecycle for the assigned project(s) from initial team formation and project planning (inception) to successful completion on-time and on-budget.
Consult and collaborate with project sponsors and senior managers to clearly define project scope, priorities, requirements, stakeholder expectations, and resources through influence and consensus.
Facilitate the creation and maintenance of project plans (scope, objectives, design, schedule, budget, risks etc.) by applying systematic project management methodologies (e.g. PMI, Agile, Corporate Project Management).
Assemble and coordinate project team members and assign individual responsibilities to provide role clarity to team members on project tasks and schedule, as required.
Establish strong relationships with project sponsors, senior management, stakeholders, and key personnel across departments.
Responsible for stakeholder management and communication to facilitate the adoption of change management across all relevant groups.
Present concise project updates; prepare and disseminate project communications to internal and external stakeholders as needed. Organize and chair regular project team meetings.
Guide and perform risk assessments and gap analyses. Mitigate and resolve risks and deviations throughout the project lifecycle.
Estimate an accurate project timeline through planning sessions, apply project management control techniques during implementation, and track deviations from the baseline timeline.
May be required to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Provide training and mentorship as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
BSc degree with preference to life sciences or engineering fields; MSc or MBA an asset.
Minimum 5 years of experience as a project manager in a related field; PMP accreditation an asset.
Experience working in high compliance environments and familiarity with Quality Management System (QMS) preferred. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) experience is an asset.
Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects and dealing with complex issues in a proactive manner and consistently meeting deadlines.
Proven ability to mobilize, motivate and guide the team(s) towards a common vision and set of objectives; strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and gains cooperation of others across functional teams.
Demonstrated track record of facilitating communications channels across multiple cross-functional teams.
Results-oriented with effective skills in decision-making, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Highly flexible, good tolerance for ambiguity and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
Clear and concise communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) both in one-on-one and in group settings.
Previous experience managing, mentoring and/or training project and non-project staff.
Team orientated - ‘one-team’ behavior is a must.
