Project Manager, Operations

Job Description Summary

The Project Manager, Operations manages the execution of Projects led by the Operations Department. This role is an integral part of the Operations Project Management Office and aligns with the corporate and departmental Project Management Offices at STEMCELL, ensuring that best practices are shared and implemented across the organization. The Project Manager, Operations will work on a diversity of projects, with particular focus on product technology transfer to higher regulatory compliance, and manufacturing, supply chain, and process improvement projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages the planning, execution and review of projects while adhering to budget, scope and schedule requirements

  • Ensures consistent project management framework and best practices are adhered to

  • Leads project teams, develops schedules, and determines resources needed to achieve deliverables

  • Collaborates with Sponsors and Senior Management to support the determination of project scope, priority and resource allocation.

  • Provides clear, effective and appropriate communications to different audiences across the organization (up, down and across)

  • Manages a variety of project meetings and communications including tracking and following up on timelines and deliverables, progress reports, agendas, meeting minutes, action items and database maintenance

  • Leads by example and demonstrates a ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Seeks opportunities for team alignment by collaborating, motivating, consensus building and influencing project team members

  • Proactively facilitates engagement of stakeholders, and identifies opportunities for project information sharing and communication

  • Generates continuous improvement ideas or activities to identify efficiencies, improve processes, and reduce costs

  • Leading, coaching, developing colleagues in project management


  • Bachelor’s degree (as a minimum) in biological sciences, chemistry, engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years experience working on cross functional projects in a project management role 

  • Well organized with excellent written and oral communication skills and a keen attention to detail, excellent time management and prioritization skills, and a demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. 

  • Advanced knowledge of Google and MS Office suite of products 

  • PMI Certification is an asset
