STEMCELL Technologies has become aware of a scam wherein somebody is offering remote job opportunities, posing as STEMCELL Hiring Management during interviews, then providing fraudulent employee agreements and checks. We have reported this criminal activity to the appropriate authorities and our online security team is working hard to ensure that it is dealt with. Job Description Summary

The Process Development Department is looking for a highly motivated Manager in the Media team! The Media team is responsible for maintaining a large portfolio of existing STEMCELL products, as well as the ongoing technology transfer of new GMP and Research Use Only (RUO) products. This fiscal year, the Media team successfully collaborated to complete multiple process improvement projects, identified root causes for 100+ non-conformances, and tech-transferred 5 new GMP and 40 new Research Use Only (RUO) products. As a Process Development Manager, you will work in a dynamic and collaborative team which deals with multiple competing priorities, steers efficiently through prioritization challenges, and maintains a strong learning and growth mindset.

The Process Development Manager is responsible for supervising and mentoring a team of scientists and process development associates entrusted, empowered, and accountable to maintain STEMCELL’s existing and upcoming cell culture media manufacturing processes and products. You will also be responsible for setting up the team’s effective collaborations and communication with all relevant internal stakeholders (e.g. Manufacturing, Quality Control, Process Development, Product Managers, Research & Development, etc.).

The Manager’s team is responsible for producing cell culture media for internal STEMCELL customers, while managing a small chemical inventory, prioritizing requests, and scheduling production dates. The team leads problem-solving activities to support a large media product portfolio of 2000+ products through non-conformance investigations and corrective or preventive actions (CAPAs). The team will also be responsible for supporting the upgrade of existing legacy manufacturing processes for the purpose of cost savings, improving efficiency and generating manufacturing capacity. You will work in a dynamic and collaborative team which deals with multiple competing priorities, steers efficiently through prioritization challenges, and maintains a strong learning and growth mindset. Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated use of coaching/leadership models in practice. Regularly seeks out feedback and training on coaching style to improve performance. Recognize roles and structures to play to employee strengths where possible and identification of skill gaps within the team.    

  • Takes pleasure in mentoring, managing, and developing highly technical and diverse teams built to maintain and continuously improve process and product knowledge that impact product quality. 

  • Has knowledge of STEMCELL’s cell culture media products and their applications.

  • Present experimental results and performance metrics at cross-departmental meetings, clearly communicating conclusions, trends, and future plans and takes pride in reinforcing and nurturing successful collaborations with other departments.

  • May contribute to project planning and supervise development activities.

  • May coordinate or facilitate lab upkeep and safety activities

Qualifications

  • Education and relevant industrial experience in Solution Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or relevant discipline (PhD with 3-5 years, MSc with minimum 8 years, Bachelors with minimum 10+ years).

  • Requires 3+ years of practical experience and knowledge in leading teams and tactical processes.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills are required.

  • General knowledge of biological raw materials, cell culture and cell culture media is an asset.

  • Good understanding of scale-up principles and technology transfer is an asset.

  • Exposure to ISO 9001, ISO 13485, quality management system, and cGMPs is an asset. 

  • Experience in Design of Experiments (DoE), statistical approach, and Quality by Design (QbD) is an asset.

  • Experience in the conception, design, and optimization of manufacturing processes related to cell culture media products is an asset.

This role requires vaccination against COVID-19 as per the current recommendations by local health authorities, including any COVID-19 boosters as recommended by local health authorities and where available.
