Job Description Summary
Our Procurement team is growing, and we are looking for someone who is proactive, analytical, and collaborative to join this dynamic and innovative biotech environment and help us help scientists advance their medical research.The Associate Category Manager, Engineering is responsible for assisting with Procurement activities pertaining to outsourced engineered products and instrumentation and support the overall needs of the business. In this role you will develop in-depth knowledge of markets, suppliers and products while working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to maximize value and mitigate risk. You will liaise with suppliers and internal teams and may provide technical input in cross functional initiatives.
You will work on exciting company projects and use your excellent communication skills to negotiate with suppliers and provide technical input in cross-functional initiatives.
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with the sourcing of products and services, interfacing with internal stakeholders in order to understand their requirements
Identify opportunities for improvement with a focus on short and long term cost reductions, operational efficiencies, and quality improvements for material category
Assist with the creation of presentations and routine supply and category updates, as required
Follow supplier relationship management principles for key suppliers such as: attend internal and supplier-facing business review to monitor supplier’s spend and performance and identify improvement opportunities; work closely with the Planning team to align inventory management strategies with purchasing strategies to ensure a shift from transactional to strategic relationships with supplier
Assist in contract negotiations, supply agreement development, contract execution and management
Knowledge and Qualifications
Bachelor's or advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain discipline
Strong business analytical skills and comfort with identifying data needs and sources to support procurement, and contract administration
Proficiency in MS Office Suite or Google Workspace, familiar with ERP software (SAP preferred) and Demand Driven MRP
Exposure to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality management systems and cGMPs is an asset
Team player and strong collaborator with a growth mindset, and able to stay calm and focused in high-pressure situations
