IT Lead, Asia Pacific
Job Description Summary
A new opportunity has arisen to join our growing Information Systems (IS) team at our beautiful, new facility located in Shanghai, China. STEMCELL is searching for a proven individual to lead day-to-day IT operations for offices in the Asia Pacific region.
Responsibilities will vary from hands-on support, to working with global colleagues to maintain apps and services, and engaging with business teams in the Asia Pacific region to understand and advocate-for their needs.
This is a diverse role that is well suited for an individual with strong general technical knowledge, great interpersonal and communication skills, and a proactive attitude. This role should appeal to those who enjoy a broad variety of tasks, and wish to develop skills leading towards a team management role in the future.
This role reports to the Manager of IT (based in Canada), and is additionally accountable to the General Managers for China & Singapore/Australia. This position is based in our office in Shanghai, China, and includes quarterly travel to other offices within the region.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical support for staff in the Asia Pacific region. Take ownership of support requests from report to resolution
Own IT service operations and performance within the Asia Pacific region. Collaborate with your global colleagues from other IT teams to identify and resolve recurring issues.
Advocate-for the IT needs of business teams in the Asia Pacific region, ensuring STEMCELL’s apps and IT services meet the expectations of our staff.
Partner with other STEMCELL teams to deliver successful projects, including the rollout of new applications & building expansions.
Build and manage relationships with local suppliers and service providers.
As a regional leader within the IT Global Services team, collaborate with your colleagues in North America & Europe ensure that IT services are reliable, responsive and secure for all global staff. This includes shared accountability for key service levels
As a technical leader, this role is also expected to administer and operate some of STEMCELL’s enterprise-wide applications and systems such as Active Directory, and communications tools. This includes monitoring system status and taking proactive steps to prevent outages.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT global standards and practices, including identifying and leading improvements to systems & processes.
Assist with budget, life cycle and goal planning

5+ years of experience in an IT admin or support-lead role including demonstrated experience leading resolution of complex problems
Well-rounded knowledge across a wide-breadth of technology, including proven hands-on experience
Strong communication skills to understand, influence, and negotiate with internal teams and external partners
Demonstrated experience building strong relationships at all levels. This role will support and collaborate with staff around the globe, so strong communication skills are essential
Degree or diploma in a technology related discipline, or a mix of industry certifications and experience
Excellent organization skills, including self-management of priorities and deadlines
Thrive in a high paced environment, with multiple competing priorities
Show a keen interest to learn about new or emerging technologies
Ability to work & travel within China
Fluent in English, Mandarin
Nice to Have Qualifications
Experience supporting business applications such as Salesforce, SAP S4/HANA or Google GSuite.
Familiarity or experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Experience in applications or systems engineering/operations roles
Ability to travel and work outside of China, to support other STEMCELL offices in the Asia Pacific region
Prior leadership experience is an asset. This role is responsible for managing service providers, along with a future local team as STEMCELL continues to grow!
