Job Description SummaryThe Manager, Strategic Pricing is part of the Global Pricing team within the Business Operations department. STEMCELL’s Pricing team is responsible for ensuring that STEMCELL’s products and services are priced to optimize both value to our customers and profitably to the business.
As part of the Global Pricing team within the Business Operations department, the Manager, Strategic Pricing will be responsible for the management of the strategic pricing team. STEMCELL’s Global Pricing team is responsible for ensuring that STEMCELL’s products and services are priced accurately and competitively, while optimizing both value to our customers and profitably to the business.
Working closely with the Senior Manager, Global Pricing, the Manager, Strategic Pricing will be responsible for the management of the strategic pricing team, along with the development and execution of global price optimization strategies. Their goal is to have a positive impact on revenue and margin through the design, development and implementation of product specific pricing strategy and tactics. The Manager, Strategic Pricing will be responsible for making product pricing recommendations based on company and industry pricing best practices and reporting recommendations to senior leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop pricing strategies and models that balance our customers’ price & value perceptions with the market conditions that also align with STEMCELL’s corporate strategy.
Collaborate with the Pricing team, Product Management, R&D, and Sales to conduct and/or review analyses, price sensitivity studies, and market testing to come up with price recommendations for the existing and new products.
Identify and implement new pricing models across various marketing platforms based on the analysis of customer data, financial data, demand trends, competitor landscape, and industry dynamics.
Leverage internal and external market information to enhance and continuously innovate pricing strategies to maximize STEMCELL’s profitability and optimize its market share.
Lead the determination and implementation of new product pricing and periodic strategic reviews of existing products.
Lead the communication and implementation for annual price changes in partnership with the pricing operations team.
Collaborate with Product Management and Sales on the design of promotion and discount programs.
Collaborate with Finance to manage fair market value pricing for royalty payments.
Collaborate with various internal departments to ensure profitability of STEMCELL’s product portfolio across all channels and global regions.
Challenge the status quo where appropriate and seek innovative service solutions.
Design, prepare and report appropriate key performance metrics.
Recruit and/or manage a team of Analysts and Program Managers; Conduct and document performance reviews and make compensation recommendations for direct reports in accordance with company policies and practices.
Lead people development initiatives, through mentoring and coaching to nurture individual and team performance.
MBA or Master’s degree in a finance/economics related discipline along with degree in cell biology or other life sciences fields preferred.
Minimum 6-8 years relevant experience in pricing, product management or strategy consulting functions in the life sciences industry.
Advanced understanding of practices and principles of strategic pricing, customer’s willingness to pay, competitive landscape analysis, and P&L profitability.
Effective planning and monitoring skills required for execution and follow-up on programs in a multi-tasking environment.
Ability to function very effectively in the leadership position on complex cross-functional projects with a very broad scope of responsibility is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Proven ability to take complex processes and clearly document them for training and communication purposes.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Very strong analytical skills, including advanced knowledge of Spreadsheet applications.
Resilient, self-motivated, and results driven.
Proven examples of demonstrating a can-do attitude.
